RULES

- as much as we hate them, every community needs them -

RULES

1. The cardinal rule: Keep In-Character (IC) and Out-of-Character (OOC) separate. We know that we are all human and sometimes things happen. Misunderstandings are a part of life, that's for certain. But we expect all of our players to be able to discuss things rationally if situations arise that cause conflicts outside of the game. If you need a mediator? Contact a moderator.

2. While Nashville is a city full of music, not everyone who comes into Nashville will be a recording artist. We don't want to limit the number of aspiring musicians in the community but we will if it starts to become unrealistic. If you're wanting to play Kenny Chesney or Joel Madden, a celebrity or faux-celebrity community may be a better place for you. NOTE: We are not saying you cannot have a celebrity or a celebrity's credits. We just reserve the right to keep it from getting out of control.

3. The whole point of roleplaying is to interact with other people and develop relationships with your characters. The easiest way to do that is through activity. To that effect, we also know that real-life can sometimes keep you from being as active as you like. We require one scene to be posted (an active thread with at least 4 replies each or a finished scene) or one journal entry for every three-week period. We will post the dates of activity checks around one week prior to the deadline. We want this to be as fun and easy as possible for everyone!

4. Serious storylines should be run by a moderator and all involved characters prior to proceeding. These include pregnancies, major accidents, abuse, etc. If you aren't sure, please do not hesitate to ask. While drama makes the RP world go 'round, there can only be so much going on at one time before burnout will occur within the community, and none of us want that.

5. To go along with the serious storylines...please research any major life events thoroughly before doing them. This means that if you are going to have something major happen with your character you need to know how it will affect them and the people around them, as well as consequences. Major life issues be it mental, physical, occupational or otherwise are all welcome in the community occasionally but they must be played realistically to make them work. We will be more than happy to provide you with any assistance we can if you need it to help you make your situation as real as possible.

6. Yes, AIM is required. You do not have to do your sceneing here, it could all be done in threading if you would like but we need to be able to contact you via AIM once in a while. If for some reason you don't think you can ever have use of AIM, let us know and we'll talk about it.

7. We require a fleshed out biography for each character. Bullet points will not be enough. We need to see that you have a good grasp on your character before you actually put them into play. Do you need to document every life event from their birth? No. But it needs to be understood how your character got where they are and became who they are.

8. We are not establishing a character limit at this time. However, we reserve the right to limit the number of characters you may bring in based on the level of activity of your current characters.

9. Threads/scenes will be posted in [info]rocketown. Please include who, what, where, when and any pertinent warnings. Anything that can be considered more than a G rating should be included in the warnings.
